Oregano Oranges

A novice poet's magical journey with words

When did I fall in love with you: A love poem

When did I fall in love with you

/

I fell in love with you

When you brought home mangoes

Because I forgot in my deadline daze that soon they were going to be out of season.

When you started keeping two umbrellas in your car

Because I always forgot mine in the rush to skip the morning rush hour.

When you learnt how to make kadha

Just because you noticed how I would always sneeze after doing ballet in the midnight rain.

/

I fell in love with you

When I started finding the unfinished paintings

On my work table instead of the ‘I got stuck so let me just leave it’ bin.

When I felt the ice walls melting

And it getting easier to breathe.

When I realized I could eat a burger with you

And not worry about wiping the sticky sauce after every bite.

I fell in love with you

When I realized that your addition to my life

Was not a subtraction from my ability to just be

Myself.

About the poet: Armaan Rai is a poet who writes about nature, moments and memories, and nostalgia. She uses simple words and phrases to capture the beauty and complexity of the world around her. She believes that poetry is a powerful tool for expressing emotions and connecting with others. She started this blog, Oregano Oranges, as a way of connecting with other poets and readers. She wanted to create a space where she could share her work, learn from others, and get an opportunity to touch someone’s heart.
