The Foundation of Intricate Lies: A poem

I don’t know why I didn’t realize 

That our world built on the foundation of

Intricate lies was bound to come down

And shatter fragile sheets of peace

While blowing away the unfastened

Tarp of supposed tranquility. 

The beautiful net of intricate lies

That shimmers like a lake’s surface 

Would never withstand the moonless stormy nights

Is something that I should have realized 

The cursed moment we first decided 

To build our house of happiness with intricate lies.
