Mindfulness at its core is about being fully present in the moment that you are currently living. There are certain situations that help me experience this incredible feeling of being just in that moment; when I am looking at a sunset from the roof of a hotel in the hills or when I am sitting on the rocks by the river and the noise of the water drowns my anxieties and fears. These moments fill me with the energy that I need to get through the months in which my days are filled with study/work and I have no time to connect with nature. This poem is inspired from these moments.

The sunset paints the sky
In colours that she wishes she could apply
On her canvasses and papers.
But tonight It’s not her art that calls her name.
It’s the gently lapping waves of the ocean that she craves.
She wants to transform her limbs into gills and fins
And just plunge deep into the cold dark waters
Where she can witness the oceanic magic
Come alive and imbue her with powers she needs to survive.

About the poet: Armaan Rai is a poet who writes about nature, moments and memories, and nostalgia. She uses simple words and phrases to capture the beauty and complexity of the world around her. She believes that poetry is a powerful tool for expressing emotions and connecting with others. She started this blog, Oregano Oranges, as a way of connecting with other poets and readers. She wanted to create a space where she could share her work, learn from others, and get an opportunity to touch someone’s heart.
