Oregano Oranges

A novice poet's magical journey with words

A trip down the coffee house lane: A poem

This is a poem about nostalgia, changing friendships and growing up.

A trip down the coffee house lane

/

Years later I push the brown coffee house door

To get a hit of

The bitter scent of freshly brewed coffee

The crackle of the fat hitting the frying pan

The aroma of crisp golden-brown masala dosa.

/

Whispered conversations, loud guffaws,

New beginnings, old memories,

A couple arguing, a teenager reading,

Friends who are laughing

Oblivious to the future day

On which they might walk in alone.

Lost. Tired. Forgotten.

Just to reminisce about the days

When they were together and brimming with

Hopes, hearts and never-ending dreams.
