This is a poem about making promises to yourself, promises to keep your dreams alive. I am not entirely happy with what I wrote, so I might try to rewrite this later.
Promises in the moonlight
/
Starting with adagio, he slowly rises with grace
Letting the butterfly of unfulfilled dreams balance on his fingertips
As he perfectly executes a cabriole, he leaves the chains of promises behind
And leaps into a future where he follows his heart’s design
/
In the silence of the night
He pirouettes under the moonlight
In the silence of the moonlight
He promises to not let others control his life

About the poet: Armaan Rai is a poet who writes about nature, moments and memories, and nostalgia. She uses simple words and phrases to capture the beauty and complexity of the world around her. She believes that poetry is a powerful tool for expressing emotions and connecting with others. She started this blog, Oregano Oranges, as a way of connecting with other poets and readers. She wanted to create a space where she could share her work, learn from others, and get an opportunity to touch someone’s heart.
