This is a poem about the desire to escape. Hope you enjoy it!
I want to escape my own head
/
On particularly bad days,
I want to escape
To the tiny cottage in the hills,
Where the rustling fir trees
Gently caress the glass window panes.
/
I want to wake up
To the music of the whistling woods
And I want to eat my lunch
With a cat who meows in companionship.
/
The distant roar of the roaring river,
The cows mooing in the silky smooth meadow,
The insects amplifying their evening orchestra,
I want it all to drown the unforgiving voice
Of my own head in the lap of nature
Which never forgets but does forgive.
