The death of a star

/

The sky was awash in the deepest violets and the faintest oranges

Giving the evening a deathly glow.

The last inhabitants of planet Earth were gathered by the ocean

Desperate to board the spacecraft to their future home.

/

Bundled in snow jackets and mufflers and thick boots

They awaited with the nervous anticipation laced with scared desperation

Of a being escaping into the wild to save their lives

As their once bright yellow-orange sun breathed some of it’s last glows on the way to it’s deathbed.

/

Soon they would catch one final glimpse of their dying star

As they whizz out of their solar system,

Finally on their way to a brighter future

Being greenlit by a brand new star in another solar system.
