A novice poet's magical journey with words

My Love Stained Heart Needs to Grieve: A grief poem

My Love Stained Heart Needs to Grieve

My ink stained hands refuse to let go

Of the muscle memories of you.

Everytime I pick up my pen

And lose myself in the artist’s daze

I come out after hours only to realize

That I ended up etching your face again.

/

Now what do I do with the ninety nine sketches of you

Hanging on my pink studio walls

Making me look like a stalker obsessed

With a heart faced girl with love filled eyes.

/

I should probably burn them

In a rebellious act of grief

But watching you burn on the pyre once

Was enough to haunt all my wakeful dreams.

/

So for now, my studio will remain a shrine

Of all our fairytale memories.

My ink stained hands might whine

But my love stained heart

Will breathe a sigh of relief

And continue to slowly cry in expressions of grief.
